December 26, 2013

Arrived at Quilter's Junction for our meeting. At first thought we would be posting, "No one showed up," but that wasn't the case!

We had a great visit with 6 members.

Kathy W, Barb, Sharon, Susie, Janet and Lynn attended. We talked about Christmas, funny things that happened since the last time we were together, and what we would do if TAS goes under.

Janet brought in one of Lynn's blocks.

Our next meeting is January 9, 2014.

We wish everyone a Happy NEW YEAR!

December 11, 2013

We had a wonderful party at Deanna's house. We had 11 members attend the party.

Deanna decorated to the hilt! It was so much fun. The gifts under the tree where the gifts we brought for the white elephant.

We all fit around the table! Any more and we would have had to get a card table out.

We got the tour of the house! This is part of the kitchen. The kitchen was "L" shaped.

The showing room had a couple of her finished quilts, including the one we all did for the contest.

We checked out all of her bathrooms as well!

She had us all go into her shower! Would you believe we all fit and there was room for at least 2 more!

Our host is in the middle.

This was in her downstairs bathroom -

Love the tub!

This is JoAnn steeling Lynn's gift! Full of yellow fabrics.

Sue looking for her gift.

Cil showing off her gifts.

More gifts.

Kathy checking things out!

As you can see, we all had a great time! We shared in the fun and we all enjoyed each other's company. The best part was we stayed past 3 pm enjoying ourselves!

OUR next meeting is December 26, 2013 at Quilter's Junction - See you there!

November 21, 2013

Meeting attendees today were Cil, Kathy W, JoAnn, Sharon, Kathy H, Deanna and Barb.  We enjoyed ourselves.  Deanna passed out invitations and driving instructions for the Christmas party at her place.
Christmas Party is scheduled for December 11, 2013.

November 14, 2013

We had a great turn out for our meeting. We had about 12 members total show up. Some came early and left, and some came later and stayed.

We had our "show and tell" at 11 am. We were too excited about show and tell to wait till 11:30. Lynn told everyone about how TAS is going. She explained to the group there was a possibility that those who get the newsletter in the mail may pay an extra $5 because of shipping costs. Not everyone was happy about that. We even talked about being a group without TAS. We do like the newsletter and will stay with TAS for now.

Kathy W showed her Christmas Tree Skirt for her daughter.

Kathy H. showed her wall hanging.

A lot of the blocks were coming back in. It was decided that Teri's blocks would be the last blocks we would be doing for awhile. We had been overwhelmed with blocks lately and time to work on our own projects has been lacking. So, we will take a break. We talked about a challenge for all of us. In Jan, we would work on a "UFO" project for 6 months, and then have our name in a drawing to see if we win something. We haven't decided on what yet, and this is still under discussion.

Blocks that were turned in -

Sue did this one for Sharon.

Barb did this one. (above)

The above blocks where for Sharon. Sharon did a few of them.

Kathy H's block for her set of blocks.

Sharon made this for Connie.

Cil made this for JoAnn.

Embroidery was needed to finish this - Kathy H for Connie.

Kathy W made this for Connie.

Deanna made this for Cil.

Kathy W made this for Cil.

Sharon chatting with Susy (hidden), Joann, Barb, Kathy H and Kathy W.

Kathy W and Deanna discussing their blocks.

Some of us left early, but some stayed longer. We stay as long as we can, and we enjoy each other's company. So, please feel free to join us!

NEXT MEETING: NOVEMBER 21, at Quilter's Junction. We changed the date because Thanksgiving was on our 4th Thursday, so we are still going to meet, but a week early!

Come join us!

October 24, 2013

We didn't have a meeting this day - we had Mary Arnold teach an applique class. She worked with several TAS members as well as 3 other quilters that signed up at the shop.

NEXT MEETING:

NOVEMBER 14th - JAYDEE PRICE will be teaching Drawing/Design. Everyone is asked to pay $7, to help pay for the class. $3 (of the $7) is for supplies. All members are encouraged to attend. This is a very talented quilter, who's patterns are in the TAS newsletter.

WE WILL NOT BE MEETING THE 4TH WEEK OF NOVEMBER, BUT WILL BE MEETING ON THE 21ST OF NOVEMBER (3RD WEEK).

October 10, 2013

This was our first meeting at Quilter's Junction's new location - you can now find us at 404 S. Tower Ste. 5, Centralia WA. Come join us when you get the chance.

Janet, Barb, Joann, Cathy H, Teri, Sharon, Cil, Susy and Carolann all had a great time at the shop. We had two visitors, Joan K and Sandy S. We are hoping to get one more member to our group.

Friendship blocks are still coming in. This one was made by Barb for Kathy H.

Susy made this one for Kathy.

This was done by Sharon.

Sharon did this for Connie as well.

Our next meeting will be a CLASS by Mary Arnold. Because the class is limited and we don't have the room we used to, to meet, it will just be the class. Mary Arnold was so popular that we had to have 2 more classes arranged. Our October 24th meeting (class) is full, and the next two dates for her classes are: November 22nd, and Dec 11th. If your interested in taking her class, be sure and let Quilter's Junction know. You will need to register and pay for the class. Those that pay are guaranteed the class.

September 26, 2013

We had our Potluck at the meeting. There were a lot of "prices" with everyone putting 10 cents in for each name in the pot. We made enough money to get up to $20 for the free membership drawing. Our next potluck we should be able to do the drawing of a name to win a years membership with TAS.

We do have a new rule about who is eligible to when the membership - since the last two membership went to people that showed up 1 time all year, and won. One was won by the other group and even though they were invited to all the potlucks, only showed up for the Christmas one, taking all the prizes with them. So, the membership drawing is going to be for those that attend the potlucks where we earn the money for the next free membership. In other-words, if someone came 1 time to the potluck and it took 3 potlucks to make the money, then their name would go in 1 time, while someone else may have been there all three times. They would get  3 chances. It's a lot more fair for those who are helping earn the money.

Deanna come for a quick visit as here husband was waiting in the truck - outside the window. She was checking with everyone to see what was new and exciting. Then she left before we ate.

It was a good meeting with everyone working on projects and chatting away, while some of us listened and worked.

Everyone had a great time. We welcomed 2 of our 3 new members as well. Carolann and Pat who were able to see how crazy we can get. We look forward to seeing Cynthia at our meetings as well.

We were reminded that we will need to go to Quilter's Junction's new store next month. We also found out they rented out the room we were using, so it's probably a better reason for Quilter's Junction to move. She was loosing the space she was able to use till they found renters. The new place of business is the old Sherwood Forest Farms building in downtown Centralia. It's on Tower Avenue.

Two more blocks were turned in for friendship blocks. This one was Susy's block.

This block is what Susy did for Connie. She had an interesting pattern for all of us.

3 Friendship quilt blocks for JoAnn are still missing - if you haven't gotten them done, please do so. This is a February block, and needs to be finished. Lynn needs one more person to do a block for her, so if you haven't done one yet, please pick up the block information.

Since Quilter's Junction had a 20% sale on everything in the store, we all did our shopping on the way out the door. It was busy all day with quilters coming in and buying a lot of stuff. It helped the store, giving them less to haul over to the new store.

We all stayed till 2:30 pm and then called it a day. A few of us had other things to do. It was great to see what everyone was working on, and we all had fun! That's the part that counts.

JAYDEE PRICE HAS POSTPONED HER DRAWING CLASS TILL NOVEMBER. OUR NEXT MEETING WILL BE OUR USUAL MEETINGS.

MARY ARNOLD'S CLASS - BEGINNING APPLIQUE - IS FULL AND THOSE WHO SIGNED UP NEED TO PAY LYNN OR EVELYNA FOR THE CLASS. LYNN IS LOOKING INTO HAVING HER COME AGAIN ON A FRIDAY, SO THAT BOTH GROUPS CAN ATTEND AS WELL. CONTACT QUILTER'S JUNCTION IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR CALL LYNN AND SEE IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE THAT SIGNED UP.
