December 10, 2014 - Christmas Party

This is a little late in posting, we hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

The day started out pouring rain. Even with the rain and flooding, we all made it up to Olympia to be at Teri's house for our yearly party.

This is another block that goes with the quilt we are working on.

Blocks where due at the party, so we got a few turned in.

Each block is done differently.

We all were enjoying the view of all the blocks.

Deanna was helping in the kitchen, while our new "coordinator" Sue was chatting with her.

We all gathered and chatted before our lunch and gift exchange. The only member missing was Kathy W.

Cis was sharing her table runner she made for her daughter. Sharon and Barb with checking it out.

Lynn showed the quilt she was working on. She was sending it off to her Aunt for Christmas. The tails are the binding.

Our potluck lunch was awesome and we all sat and visited.

Chatted about everything!

Then we all gathered in the living room to open our gifts.

Barb was #1 and picked her gift.

More gifts where opened with NO ONE stealing the gifts! Sharon and Cil looking on.

Lynn picked her gift as #3.

Barb did take Sharon's gift - as she was #1.

Next was picking names to see who wanted the gifts on the table. Deanna got the first choice.

JoAnn got her pick as well.

Susy, Deanna, Teri, Sharon and Kathy H. all enjoying Deanna's story!

Sharon and Kathy H checking out their gifts.

A good time was had by all. A big Thank You to Joyce for taking all the photos! There were many to pick through to post.

We all wished each other a MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Our next meeting will be January 14, 2016 - We all are looking forward to being back together. Come join us if your in town!

Today was our meeting day because of Thanksgiving taking over our usual Thursday.

(Writer) was not at the meeting, and waiting to see if anyone attended.

Our next meeting is our Christmas Party at Teri's house. We have a $15 limit gift exchange. Hopefully gifts that go with quilting. It's a pot luck, so please bring food for the party. For more information on where and when, contact Sue K.

We will have our next quilting days for next year on the next schedule.

May we all be Happy Quilting over the Holiday! Happy Thanksgiving!

November 12, 2015

Today was a good day! We had about 10 members showing up.

Terri brought in her blocks that she got from her "very sweet mother-in-law." She said she loves her mother-in-law. We all commented how rare that was, and Lynn said she had one too.

All these blocks were either basted or appliqued down.

The applique works she did was on the raw edge and we were amazed at how small her pieces are.

These were also given to her. Two of the blocks were machine pieced and the rest were hand pieced. They were very small stitches.

The top blocks where done for Deanna's Celtic quilt she had members make blocks for. The bottom block is Lynn's for the quilt we all are working on. She's going to do more embroidery on the block and bring it back.

Joyce was working on these ornaments. She did all the coloring and embroidery. They turned out really cute.

We talked about going to Teri's house for the Christmas Party in December. We talked about what we were going to do. It is a potluck. JoAnn talked to a couple of other members and decided what they would bring. The rest of us will bring other stuff that goes with what she picked for everyone.

Sharon asked if there was any other business that we needed to talk about. Some of us have been working on the blocks that need to be turned in, in December. We talked about TAS and getting ready for the Annual Meeting in May. Some coasters were turned in already.

We will be meeting again on November 18th, which is Wednesday instead of Thursday. We will then meet at the Christmas Party in December. Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next meeting!

October 22, 2015

Today was a good meeting of good friends. We had 7 members attending.

Deanna showed the quilt she is repairing. It was a quilt that her husband got when he was in school. It was a gift from his mother. She was repairing the pieces that where torn. There were pieces attached to the quilt for the restoration part. So, Deanna didn't have to look far for the replacements.

Deanna was also showing her quilt she's putting together. She has some really pretty blocks that will go in the corners. This is what some of the setting will look like.

Sue brought back her piece she made for her sister. Lynn told her she missed the photo for the blog, so here it is.

The meeting was pretty much spent on trying to decide what to do if TAS disbands. We talked about the volunteer work that TAS needs to get moving again. Many stated they are not sure if they would send in their money for renewal until they know if TAS is going to make it. We are an applique group no matter what. We will be paying stating in January for the use of the room. That way if TAS goes under, we are still a group. If TAS continues on, we will be a part of that as well. We are waiting to see where TAS will be by January.

We had a great time, and are looking forward to meeting again November 12th and 18th. The 18th is a Wednesday and is the third week because of the holidays.

Please come join us at the next meeting!

October 8, 2015

Today was a good day for our group. Kathy W and Lynn where the first to show up. After awhile they thought they would be the only ones, but then the others came.

We had a total of 5 members attending. Kathy W, Cis, Deanna B, Sue, and Lynn. Sue left early. Joyce sent word that she wouldn't be able to make it to the meeting this month.

Before she left, she wanted to show the stars she was making for her sister who lives in another state. We missed a photo of "Judy's Star" that Sue was working on at the last meeting.

Kathy W was showing her photo of the quilt she was working on. This is the quilt from the blocks we have been posting in the past. She wasn't able to bring it in to show, because the baby was due at the time she finished the quilt. It was delivered to the baby without a label, so when they go to visit, Kathy can put the label on it. We all loved this quilt!

Deanna brought in the extra pieces from her Celtic blocks we all worked on. She's looking for the "extras" that were missed. Since only 5 members showed up, she wasn't able to figure out who still needed to bring in their scraps from the quilt block they did. She's still asking for members to please bring in their extras.

Blocks are out there for the group to work on. Kathy W is still wanting the extra greens from the stems in the blocks. Please remember to bring in the scraps from the greens used in the blocks.

We had two people come and check up on our group. They are interested in joining. We let them know we are meeting in two weeks.

Looking forward to seeing everyone in two weeks - October 22, 2015.

September 24, 2015

Meeting turned out great, with 14 member attending. We all enjoyed our potluck as well as each others company. Thank you goes to Joyce K for taking the photos and sending them to the author. She did an awesome job of taking photos.

We would like to say a BIG Thank you! to JoAnn S for all her hard work in organizing the project for the Brest Cancer Survivors. She ironed all the fabrics that came in, as well as collecting the fabrics up to the week before the quilt show. She did an awesome job in marking prices and getting the tables set up with Lynn helping her out.

Quilt blocks for the drawing had a great turnout.

These are the blocks that were in the drawing.

As well as JoAnn working on her block to be added to the blocks.

Sue K won all the blocks! She was thrilled to have them.

Lynn presented Cil with the money ($563) that was earned for her Lewis County Breast Cancer Survivors group. We thanked everyone that donated, and was thrilled at the results. The best day of the quilt show was the Friday morning it started. We weren't thinking when this photo was taken, JoAnn should have been in on this photo - sorry JoAnn.

Lynn passed on her "coordinator" position to Sue K. Sue has offered to guide the group in the right direction. Lynn wanted a break from having to keep everyone on task (smiling).

Sue showed her pattern for her sisters quilt piece.

Lynn showed her quilt which she finished. She is going to teach a class for the "2 Fabric Applique" quilt wall hanging.

Sharon showed her two quilts that she made for her grandchildren.

Joyce showed the blocks she's working on. She was adding the floss to the flowers.

Deanna B. showed her quilt. Not sure if she made it or if she acquired it.

Blocks for the quilt everyone agreed on where given out with the fabric. Everyone was asked to have the blocks back by December to give both Kathy W and Barb time to have the quilt done by our Annual meeting in May 2016. Thank you to Susy for figuring out the quilt blocks and getting them cut for everyone.

Everyone having a good time.

Lynn asked for three members to be on a committee to get the Annual meeting organized. There will three members from both Myron's Girls and Haven't Missed a Stitch to get this going.

Our next meeting will be October 8, 2015. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Come join us!

September 10, 2015

At this writing, the editor (Lynn) was not present at the meeting.

Joyce showed Lynn her Show and Tell quilts before she headed to the group meeting. Joyce, JoAnn and Lynn were at the Forrest Grange getting ready for the booth at the quilt show. This is one of Joyce's finished quilts.

Here's a close up.

She finished this for her niece.

This is the background fabric she used.

Lynn received the patterns for the quilt the group is working on. Lynn will get the fabric when it comes in. Barb met up with JoAnn and Lynn at the Grange. She had the patterns copied to give out to all the quilters.

Sue K, Deanna and Joyce where at the quilt shop meeting. Barb showed up for about 30 mins. A good time was had by all.

August 27, 2015

Quilting meeting today was great! We had 12 members attend with one leaving and another coming in. A few members left early, while some stayed around till after 2:30 pm.

This is all the stuff that was brought for the group to buy what they wanted. The left overs are going to the quilt show on Sept 11 & 12th. All proceeds are going to the Lewis County Breast Cancer Survivors. We collected a lot of money today, and hope to collect more by the time of the quilt show.

Kathy W's quilt blocks from the quilt she's working on.

The link to these are in our last meeting notes.

Kathy has been doing a great job on this quilt!

Susy has been working on these blocks as well.

Susy has been working on these block for some time.

Sharon was working on her block as well.

Deanna was showing everyone her blocks that the group made for her. She's getting ready to put it together and has picked the two fabrics to go with it.

We all talked about needing to do a quilt for our demo quilt. We all picked a quilt pattern and have all picked the blocks we wanted to do. We all voted NOT to do the December block. It was discussed that everyone is tired of doing the blocks every quarter, and that they would like to work on their own projects.

We talked about what happened at the Fair and what could work out better. We all agreed that a quilt with our table would help out better, because the quilt from Rainy Daze Quilt Guild was an issue at the Fair. No one knew the pattern or what it was all about, yet it was behind our booth.

Lynn has the center pieces for the Dresden Plates that are due next month.

Sept 24th drawing:

Theme:          Dresden Plate
Colors:           Brown background
                        Fall colors
Centerpiece:  5" square at the shop is required for the center
Background:  Brown - any shade of brown

Blocks are to be 12 1/2" finished sizes - recommend 13" blocks

Block for Quilt:

Blocks will be handed out after we purchase the fabric. When the blocks are out, they are due back by May 1, 2016. If unable to do the block, return for someone else to do.

We will be doing Midnight Garden, by Sara Tuttle and Sandy Brawner

The following is the list of who's doing which block:

Deanna - Dogwood
Kathy H - Daffidil
Susy - Coneflowers
Teri - Pansy
JoAnn - Iris
Sue - Morning Glory
Sharon - Hibiscus
Cis - Columbine
Cil - Sunflower
Lynn - Rose
Joyce - Lily of the Valley
Barb - Lily

Kathy W offered to coordinate and work on the borders, as well as putting the quilt top together. Barb offered to donate batting and machine quilting when done. JoAnn offered to do the binding. Barb is getting the patterns copied for use so we can have a "backup" in case someone looses their pattern. Kathy W and Lynn are working with Evelyna to order the background fabric for the quilt. Lynn offered to cut the blocks to be give out with the patterns.
See you at our next meeting: September 10, 2015.
